How to save word document as PDF

 

In this article, I will show you How to save word document as PDF. If you are facing this issue then you are probably running a older version of MS Office and its not updated.

Therefore, lets find out the version of MS Office installed on our computer first.

1. Launch MS Word (You can press “WIN Key + R” to launch Run and type “winword” there to launch MS Word.

2. Now lets press “ALT + F” key to launch the file menu in MS Word, you will see the screen below, where you need to click on “word options” and then a new pop up will show up as shown in right screen.

3. From word options you have to click on “Resources” tab in the left pane and you will find the version of MS Word in the bottom right pane.  Now that you know the version of MS Office you have it installed on your computer lets fix the save as PDF thing.

4. When you try to save the word file as a PDF you will see this little blue exclamation mark (as shown in the picture below) and will direct you to install the addins to start saving your word files as PDF.

5. When you see this it means the add-in is required to make it work so we will have to browse through this website (Microsoft Website) and download the add-in.

6. Now that you have downloaded the Add-In from Microsoft’s website lets execute it to install it. The file is named as “SaveAsPDFandXPS.exe”

During the installation you will have to Accept the EULA and continue to proceed with the install and then followed by other two screens which will confirm the successful installation of above Add-In.

7. After the Add-In is installed successfully lets launch MS Word again by following the step 1 and check if you can save the file as PDF or not.

You will notice the blue exclamation we talked about earlier is gone and instead you see the message saying Publish a copy of the document as a PDF or XPS file.

Once you hit that you will see a pop-up requesting you to save the file to a specific location and notice the save as type is .pdf.

Congratulations! you have successfully saved your MS Word document to a PDF.
